Bond of Dirck Corssen Stam to skipper Jop Arentsen for the payment of his board on the voyage to New Netherland
I, the undersigned] Dirck Corsen,[1] hereby acknowledge that I am well and truly [ indebted to Jop Aertsen, skipper of the ] ship C[ oni ]nck Davit, [ in the sum of ] hundred and eighty-six Carolus guilders, computed at 20 stivers [ the guilder ], aris[ ing from ] board on said ship consumed with Abraham G[ revenraet ] on [ the voyage ] from Amsterdam to New Netherland.
Therefore I, Dirck Corsen aforesaid, do promise that the above mentioned sum shall be satisfied and paid, free of costs and charges, by Mr. Hendric Grevenraet, merchant at Amsterdam, when- ever the above named skipper or the lawful bearer shall present this [ bond ] to Mr. Hendric Grevenraet; for which and as further security I, Dirck Corsen, bind my person and property, movable and immovable, present and future, without any exception, submitting the same to all courts, judges and justices, all without fraud, and in testimony of the truth this is signed by me and the witnesses hereto. Done in Fort Amsterdam, the 7th of January 1642, New Netherland.
