I, [ the undersigned, Anthony de Hooges ], hereby [ acknowledge that this day, date underwritten, I ] have [ received from skipper Jop Arentsen ], dry and in good condition, all the goods shipped by Mr. Kiliaen van Rensselaer in [the ship Coninck] Davit, for the freight of which there shall be paid by the said Mr. [ Rensselaer ] to the above named Jop Arentsen the sum of [ eight? ] hundred and sixty-eight guilders, according to the bill of lading signed by the above named Jop Arentsen. The aforesaid Mr. Renselaer shall pay for the board of Antony de Hogens, Jan [ Ver ]beeck, his wife, child and maid, Geertjen Nannex, her son and little daughter, Lucas Smits from Coerlant^[1] and Jan Tenessen what is due to the skipper, to wit, for the ten above mentioned persons, each one hundred and twenty-six days, from the 23rd of July 1641, when they came on board the ship, to the 29th of November last, when they landed at the Manhatans in New Netherland, at 7 stivers each per day, amounting in all to four hundred and forty-one guilders, and thirty-three guilders for freight of the chests of the people, according to Lincklaer’s^[2] signature. All this without fraud. In testimony whereof this is signed by Antony de Hooge and the witnesses hereto invited. Done in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland, the 7th of January 1642.
