Before me, Cornelis van ] Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland ], appeared Nicolaes van Elslandt, who by authority of the honorable Director Kieft has let to Christoffel Faster, residing on Long Island, two oxen belonging to the honorable Company, whereof the aforesaid Christoffel shall have the use until the middle of May anno 1643, which oxen he shall properly keep and which shall be at his risk until the middle of next May. For the use of the said oxen he, Christoffel, shall pay thirty-eight English shillings, for which he binds his person and property, movable and immovable, present and future. Done the 4th of November anno 1642, in New Netherland.
