Declaration of surgeon Hans Kierstedt as to the nature of Philip Gerardy's wound

Hans Kirsteede, surgeon, residing on the island of Manhattan, declares at the request of the honorable fiscal, Van der ] Hoykens, that he found Philip Geraerdy wounded close to the spine, on the right side, between the short ribs and the shoulder-blade, the cut running upwards toward the shoulder without penetrating or being fatal at present. All of which he declares in the presence of the subscribing witnesses to be true, offering if necessary to confirm the same under oath. Done the 11th of April anno 1643 on the island of Manhattan in New Netherland.
