Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary [ of New ] Netherland, appeared Hendrick Pietersz from Hasselt, aged about forty years, and Adriaen Reyniersz, smith, aged 43 years, who jointly, at the request to Tomas Teunesz, attest and declare, in place and with promise of an oath if need be, that it is true and truthful that Tomas Teunesz at the house of Marten Cruger asked the said Cruger: “At what price do you accept the beavers?” He answered: “At eight guilders.” Teunes Tomasz^[1] said: “Not for ten guilders.” All of which the deponents declare to be true and truthful, offering to confirm the same. Done the [      ] of September anno 1643, in Fort Amsterdam.
