Series:
Scanned Document:

[1]Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Piter Cock, aged 30 years, and Rouloff Jansen, aged 20 years, both well known to me, the secretary, who at the request of Cornelis Jansen Coelen attest, testify and declare, as they do hereby, in place and with promise of a solemn oath if need be, that it is true and truthful that since the colony of Achter’s Col was burned by the Indians, there has been no opportunity to inspect the place to see what the condition might be, in consequence of the great number of Indians, who burn and kill everything they can lay hold of in the woods, on water, or elsewhere. The deponents declare this to be true and truthful and that this is done by them to bear witness of the truth, without fear of ] favor. Done the 3rd of November anno 1643, in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.
