Power of attorney from Richard Rely to Jeronimus La Croix to receive moneys from the West India Company
Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary in New Netherland appointed by the General Chartered West India Company, appeared Ritchert Rely[1] of London, who came over in the year 1642 on the ship De Melckmeyt, who appoints and empowers, as he does hereby, Jeronimus La Croix, junior, to demand and collect from the honorable directors of the General Chartered West India Company, chamber of Amsterdam, the sum of seventy-eight guilders, due him by balance and remainder of the account hereto annexed; on receipt of which moneys by Jeronimus La Croix above mentioned, he may execute a discharge, which shall be valid; the principal holding as valid whatever shall be done and transacted herein by the attorney.
