Receipt of Gerrit Vastrick for fifty beavers from Marten Kregier to be sold in Holland for his account

Before me ], Cornelis ] van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Gerrit Vastrick of Amsterdam, supercargo on the yacht Prins Maurits, who in the presence of the hereinafter mentioned witnesses[1] acknowledged that before the execution hereof he had received from Marten Kregler, residing in New Netherland, fifty good and well conditioned beaver skins, on bottomry and risk of the sea. The aforesaid Gerrit Vastrick promises, if God the Lord grant him a safe voyage, to pay for the aforesaid beavers in the city of Amsterdam the sum of five hundred Carolus guilders, which moneys he, Vastrick, shall put out at interest for the benefit of the above mentioned Marten Kregler in a good and secure place where he, Kregler, will be able to get the money at his convenience. For the performance whereof and as security he, Gerrit Vastrick, binds his person and property, movable and immovable, present and future, submitting the same to the jurisdiction of all lords, courts, tribunals and judges. Done the l5th of July A°. 1644, in Fort Amsterdam, New Netherland.
