Bill of sale from Symon Joosten to Govert Aertsen and Philip Jansen of the yacht De Liefde

Series:
Scanned Document:

Before me, Cornelis van Tienhoven, secretary of New Netherland, appeared Symon Joosten, producing power of attorney from his partner Abraham Jansen, which Symon Joosten declared that he transferred and conveyed, as he does hereby, in full and true ownership, to and for the benefit of Govert Aertsen and Philip Jansen, the yacht or bark now called De Liefde (by virtue of the document signed by Jacob Stoffelsen); wherefore he, Symon Joosten, henceforth and forever relinquishes the ownership of the aforesaid bark. He therefore promises nevermore to molest or trouble the above mentioned Govert Aertsen and Philip Jansen about the bark, but to aid in protecting them against all persons who hereafter may claim or pretend to have any right of ownership to the said bark. Thus done and conveyed the 13th of November anno 1646, in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.
