This day, date underwritten, at the office of the secretary of New Netherland and in his absence before Jacob Kip, his clerk, appeared the worthy Bastiaen Lambersz from Breda, who sailed in the bark of Willem Blaeuvelt and is now about to depart for the fatherland, who in the presence of the undersigned witnesses appoints and empowers, as he does hereby, Hendrick Arentsz, residing ] here, late lieutenant of the above named Blaeuvelt, to collect and receive in the aforesaid capacity from the honorable Company here, or those who shall make the distribution, in case the prize called the Tabascoo, brought in here by them, be declared a good prize, such goods or money as shall then be found due to him for his share, on receipt of which he is authorized to execute a formal discharge, which shall be valid; he, Bastiaen Lambertsz, holding valid whatever shall be done and performed in the matter aforesaid by the above named attorney or his substitute. Thus done and signed by the principal ], with the subscribing witnesses, this 16th of August 1649, New Amsterdam.
