Power of attorney from Femmetje Albers to David Provoost to sue for a debt due her by Harmen Smeman

Femmetie Alberts, wife of Hendrick Westercamp, appeared at the secretary's office and appointed Mr. Davidt Provoost to demand in her name and as if she were present before the court of New Netherland by way of legal proceedings or other proper and legitimate means from Harmen Smeman who married the widow of Barent Dircksen from Norden the sum of two hundred guilders left and bequeathed to her, the principal, by will, as appears by the will dated the 25th of March 1642,[1] in the custody of the secretary according to the Register, and afterwards confirmed by his death; the principal promising that she will hold and cause to be held as valid whatever shall be done and performed in the matter aforesaid by Davidt Provoost. Thus done and executed this 26th of August A° 1651, in New Amsterdam in New Netherland.
