We, director-general and councillors of New Netherland residing in Fort Amsterdam, proclaim by these our signatures that David Proovoost has been appointed notary here in this city of New Amsterdam; we request, therefore, that each and everyone who is shown this shall be pleased to believe the same signature hereon. In witness whereof we sign this and attach the country's seal, 16 September 1652.
