The Director-General and Council have directed their court-messenger, Claes van Elslandt, to demand from the effects of Ensign Gorge Bacxter, who served as secretary of English affairs here from the beginning of the current director-general's administration,[1] whatever originals, copies or notes on letters and other documents passed between the director-general and the neighboring governors of New England or Virginia, especially the protocols or copies of the patents of the subject English colonies of Heemstede, Vlissinge and Gravesande, which were entrusted to the aforesaid Bacxter.[2] Dated 10 February 1654, New Amsterdam, Netherland; and was signed: P.
