Appointment of commissioners to settle some difficulties in the English towns on Long Island

Whereas on account of the long winter and the impassability of the roads no opportunity has offered as yet, to carry out the resolution adopted by the high council of New Netherland on the 19th of January [last past, ] therefore, as the time has come ] now to execute the aforesaid resolution and to settle and dispose of some differences in the English villages on Long Island under the jurisdiction of New Netherland, the honorable councilors La Montagne, Cornelis van Tienhoven, fiscal of New Netherland, the honorable burgomaster Allard Antony have been hereby commissioned to conduct matters according to their best judgment, and to protest against the usurpers of the honorable patroons’ territories, and to summon them to depart.
