Appointment of Hendrick van der Walle as clerk in the secretary's office

Hendrick vander Walle, having arrived on the 9th of July with the ship the Bever, delivered the deed from the honorable lords directors, given below.

The directors of the Chartered West India Company at the chamber of Amsterdam in the United Netherlands make known,

Whereas at the secretary’s office in N. Netherland we need some capable persons as clerks, and having been informed of the competence and good comportment of Hendrick vander Walle, born at Haerlem,

Therefore, we engaged, authorized, and appointed the same Hendrick vander Walle as a clerk at the secretary’s office there, and we hereby engage, authorize, and appoint him ] to hold and occupy the aforesaid clerk’s place under the supervision and command of the officials and the secretary there. Thus done at the meeting of the aforesaid directors of the Chartered West India Company, this 13 May 1658.
