Let it be known that upon the unexpected reports sent to us overland by Messrs. Jacob Alrichs and Willem Beeckman, and for redress, maintenance and protection of the honorable Company as well as of the affairs of the City of Amsterdam's colony, we have commissioned, authorized and dispatched herewith our dear and trusted Mr. Cornelis van Ruyven, secretary, and Captain Marten Crieger, executive mayor of this city, in order to establish order as quickly as possible, pursuant to the instructions already given them or hereafter to be given upon more extensive and detailed reports concerning the policy and security of these places; hereby ordering and summoning each and everyone to whom this is shown or whomever it may in anyway concern, to receive, respect and accept the aforesaid commissioners. Messrs. Cornelia van Ruyven and Marten Crieger, according to the instructions issued them, in the execution of this and whatever else may serve to promote the Company's lands or colonies; extending all due [      ] and assistance as is fitting. Thus done and issued under our hand and seal in New Netherland, 23 September 1659.
