Return of Gerrit de Groot, court messenger, with director D'Hinoyossa's answer to a message sent by vice-director Beeckman
On [ 31 ] July 1662 I went to the director with a request on behalf of Commissary Beeckman for two deputies from the council together with a clerk in order to take depositions concerning the case of Schout van Sweeringen; to which the director said:
First, that he is unable to reply to it because the council is not complete.
Second, that he would not be able to spare the clerk until the departure of the yacht because there is much to write to the lords-superiors; however, if the aforesaid Beeckman were to wait until the yachts depart, then I will order [ for you ] two councillors and the clerk. Otherwise, the aforesaid Beeckman can take depositions in the presence of two burghers, as he has done previously.
By me,
Gerrit de Groot,
court-messenger
