Letter from William Claiborne Jr. to director Stuyvesant
Noble Sir[1]:
Pardon me that I am thus bould to make my Adreses to you For soe it is that two of my Sarvants are Runaway, and in persuite of them, I came to Delaware Bay and not finding them there, I Feare they are Fledd further. Now my humble Request is that if the be in any part under your Goverment, That you would Extend your Favor soe Farr towards me that they may be apprehended and send Backe to me to which purpose I have wrot to Capt. Vallett and Mr. Harman[2] whoe I have requested to waight uppon your honor to that effect. Sir as I now stand obleidged to you for your Freindshipp towards my Father, in doeing this you will further obleidg me, and I wilbe allwayes ready to sarve you and acknowledg my selfe.
