Declaration of vice-director Beeckman

Series:
Scanned Document:

At the request of Mr. Hendrick Huygen I have investigated the status of a certain piece of land located along the southwest side of Oplants Kil. The Swedish magistrates and other old inhabitants of the same nation have reported to me that the aforesaid land was called Prints Dorp by the Swedish governor, Johan Prints, and that his daughter has owned it for about 16 years and still is in possession of it. They are unaware that the aforesaid land was ever owned by Hans Ammonsen or his heirs, or that he ever did any farming there; but, they have heard it said by one Elias Hullengreen (after the arrival of Governor Rysingh) that his wife's father had by gift of decree from Queen Christina received a certain piece of land located between Maritiens Hoeck and Oplants Kil. I, the underwritten, declare to have received this report, dated 19 September 1662, in Fort Altena on the South River of New Netherland.
