The following is the Form of the Oath:

Whereas wee N: N: are chosen bij ye authority of the high & mighty Lords the Staets Gennerall etz to bee magestraets of the towne called N. N. wee doe sweare, in ye Presence of ye allmighty Godt, to be true & FaithFull to ye said authority, and their Governors for ye tijme being, and that wee equally & impartially shal exercize, Justice betwixt party & partij, without Respect off persons or nations, and that wee shall Follow such Further orders & Instructions as wee From time to time shall receive From ye Governor & Councell in time being. So help us God.

Pursuant to previous letters and summons, appeared at the Council the Delegates from the English Towns situate on Long Island, East of Oysterbay, delivering in the following writing:
