On the first of November two hours before dawn we lost the ship St. Jan on the reef at Rocus[1] and fled in the boat to the island of Curaçao, leaving the ship St. Jan there with eighty-five slaves on board, men as well as women and boys and girls. We reached Curaçao on the 4th of this month.

Notes

Los Rocus islands off the coast of Venezuela.
