Summary:
These files were maintained to track the Commission's finances and oversee its investigation of financial activities of individuals and corporations involved with workers' compensation cases. Records include job applications; letters; payroll information; daily activity rosters of state troopers and detectives; accountants' case assignment schedules; and travel, purchasing, and other financial records. A small amount of records relate to financial investigations of physicians and others involved in workers' compensation cases.

Scope and Content Note

These are the records maintained by the Chief Accountant of the Commission to track the Commission's finances and supervise its investigation of financial activities of individuals and corporations involved with workers' compensation cases.

Most of the records concern general and personnel administration, including: accountants' job application forms, letters, and resumes; personnel appointment and change forms; payrolls; daily activity rosters of state troopers and detectives; accountants' case assignment schedules; budgets; tax withholding forms; travel orders and vouchers; purchase orders; information on and receipts for supplies; and paid and unpaid bills.

A small amount of records relates to financial investigations of physicians and others involved in compensation cases. These consist mainly of documents submitted to the Commission under subpoena, including: bank account statements; cancelled checks and check stubs; federal and state tax returns; and x-ray daybooks and x-rays.

Access Restrictions

All investigative materials in Moreland Act commission records are indefinitely restricted pursuant to Executive Law sect. 6 and 63.8 and Civil Rights Law sect. 73.8. Requests for access to such materials are referred to the Governor's Office.

Federal and state tax returns: Restricted: Closed permanently; exempted from public disclosure by specific statutes, therefore deniable under Freedom of Information Law, Section 87.2.a.
