Administrative History

The Naval Militia was organized pursuant to Chapter 492, Laws of 1889, and Chapter 708 of Laws of 1892.

Scope and Content Note

This volume is a roster of commissioned officers in the New York Naval Militia - - the First Battalion, the Second Battalion (organized 1897), the First and Second Separate Batteries of Artillery, and the Naval Militia. The officers are listed by rank for each unit. Each entry gives name of officer, office held, division or battery number, date of commission, date of rank, address, in whose place appointed, and remarks on promotion, resignation, discharge, etc. There is a unit index in the front but no name index.
