Administrative History

Chapter 399 of the Laws of 1972 transferred the Municipal Police Training Council and all of its functions and duties to the newly created Division of Criminal Justice Services. Through its Police Administrative Services Unit, the Bureau for Municipal Police offers counseling, including in-depth comprehensive or limited surveys, to local law enforcement agencies to support their continuous review and upgrading of administrative planning, research, and operations.

Scope and Content Note

The series consists of copies of administrative surveys, consolidation studies, and related reports on police services and operations prepared by the Bureau for Municipal Police at the request of chief municipal law enforcement authorities throughout the state.

The records include: administrative surveys of police operations, typically covering issues of training, organization, and personnel analysis; consolidation studies to determine the feasibility of (or to plan for) a unified law enforcement agency; personnel analysis studies of police operations and staff resources and deployment; reports on the organization and services of police or sheriff's departments, including statements of policy, organization, rules of conduct, and functions; and operational plans for new public safety buildings.
