Scope and Content Note
The bulk of the slides in this series were created (ca. 1964-1965) by photographer Milo Stewart as an exhibit portfolio produced by the Council on the Arts entitled, "Main Street: The Heart of an American Town" (1974). These slides typically depict historical districts, historic public buildings, and homes in upstate New York.
The remainder of the slides in the series depict council-sponsored events such as exhibits, festivals, and performances. The dates, photographers, and subjects of some slides are not clearly identified. The series also contains one 16mm color film labeled "Fine Arts Workshop, 1967" produced by Willard Goodman.
