Administrative History
The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the "Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan" (1973), which was designed to encourage new building in the Adirondack Park where it is compatable with the natural character of the land, and to ensure that such development is carried out with a minimum adverse affect on the environment. The Operations Division is responsible for the review of all projects undertaken in the Adirondack Park that fall within the APA's jurisdiction and for coordinating and administering all permit related activity associated with the review of the projects. The APA Operations Division changed its name to APA Regulatory Programs Division in the early 1990s.
