Scope and Content Note
These records document major ongoing series of maps created by the Base Mapping Unit. These files contain metadata and other background information relative to cartography projects and also include information on creation of the individual series of maps, sources of information used, reasons for corrections and revisions, technical information on map production, and related correspondence.
Accretion 20983-06 documents the 1:9600 scale maps which were discontinued in 1996.
20983-09: This accretion contains specifications for mapping specific areas, often at the county level; information on mapping local sites such as airport terminals, bus stations, and developed parks; correspondence; records received from local governments concerning names (e.g. park names); and reviews. The records also document projects to update 1:24000 quadrangle maps and county base maps.
