Scope and Content Note
This series consists of correspondence; proceedings relating to courts-martial; descriptive lists; inspection reports; ordnance returns; muster rolls; morning reports; and general and special orders pertaining to the 1st New York Light Artillery.
As a whole, the series pertains to the administration of the unit rather than its role in combat. Consequently, most records concern subjects such as battery inspections, the replacement of lost or unserviceable equipment, the appointment of officers, the granting or denial of leaves of absence, and various courts-martial on which the unit's officers served.
