Scope and Content Note

This series contains letterpress copies of outgoing correspondence created by the Secretary of State's deputies in the course of managing the state's publicly-owned lands. Correspondence addresses such business as issuing of letters patent to purchasers of public lands; referral of real property title issues to appropriate standing committees of the Commissioners of the Land Office; distribution of rules and regulations governing applications for land grants; recording and filing of land title documents; distribution of field notes and survey maps; and responding to public inquiries regarding titles to real property.
