Scope and Content Note

These registers were used to record names of individuals elected or appointed to a wide variety of state offices and boards. Positions documented range from statewide elective offices such as governor, comptroller, and attorney general to appointive offices such as adjutant general, superintendent of public instruction, and canal commissioner. Volumes from the period 1778-1870 also include place of residence, appointment date, commencement date, person being replaced, and remarks. Later volumes include appointment date, term, expiration date, and remarks.
