Administrative History
Superintendents of Repairs were required to render bi-monthly accounts of expenditures for repairs to the Comptroller.
Scope and Content Note
Reports of expenditures for canal repairs were submitted every thirty or sixty days by superintendents and repairs to the Canal Commissioner. The format varies but each report always gives name and location of structure or work, amount of labor and materials used, and unit cost and total expenditure for the same. The reports also give statistics of the amount of money expended for locks, bridges, walls, buildings, and tools (new or repaired). The records are sorted by canal but otherwise unarranged.
