This series consists of correspondence, licenses, applications, reports and memoranda concerning the issuance and violations of liquor licenses issued to steamboats and railroad passenger cars by the Comptroller's Office. Most records concern the receipt of applications and memoranda dealing with legal questions and violations of liquor law. Liquor license applications include the name(s) of the vessel(s), amount paid, and expiration date of license and location of the company.

Scope and Content Note

This series consists of correspondence, licenses, applications, reports and memoranda concerning the issuance and violations of liquor licenses issued to steamboats and railroad passenger cars by the Comptroller's Office. The records in this series are concerned mostly with the receiving of applications. There are some memoranda dealing with legal questions and violations of liquor law. The series also contains examples of licenses granted and blank copies of licenses. The applications for liquor licenses contain the name(s) of the vessel(s), amount paid, date of the expiration of license, name of company vessel or car belongs to and location of the company.
