Scope and Content Note
These are volumes of monthly reports with cover letters from a Deputy State Engineer to the State Comptroller.
The first volume contains reports of April 1913 to December 1916; the second covers January 1917 to December 1920. Laws of 1903 and 1909 provided for construction and improvements on canals, specified contracting procedures, and outlined the duties of the State Engineer and Surveyor in regard to such construction. The reports give information on the construction including: contract number; location of terminal; contractors; summary of work done; estimate of percentage of work done; and schedules giving total value of work under contract, done to date, done during month of report, and percentage done to date. The reports are signed by a deputy state engineer or terminal engineer.
