Administrative History
Laws of 1792, Chapter 25 provided for the loaning of state money to clients via county officials designated as the loan officers or loan commissioners. The commissioner had the power to make loans. The payments were made by the treasurer, and were subject to the approval of the Comptroller's Office.
Scope and Content Note
Consisting of two volumes, this series contains accounts that provide a financial record of state money loaned via county loan commissioners. The first volume includes, county by county, the amount received between 1800 and 1805 and the amount in warrants issued. The second half of the first volume has an alphabetical county list of maps with correlated numbers, but it is impossible to determine what maps are referred to in this section. The second volume gives a county-by-county list of dates and financial actions in the account such as interest, salaries, transfers, and payments for related services. There is no index.
