Administrative History
Laws of 1902, Ch. 156, and Laws of 1904, Ch. 183, were concerned with giving localities the option of changing from the labor to the money system of highway repair, and of using property tax assessments (according to prescribed formulas) of the locales to finance the money highway system.
Scope and Content Note
The statement reports for 1902 and 1905 are primarily on printed forms. Some forms are accompanied by comptroller's correspondence and board of supervisor's correspondence, etc. For some counties (very limited) there are maps of highways delineated. The form contains a listing by county of assessed valuation of taxable property and percentages of assessment to use for the money system of highway repair.
