Scope and Content Note

This series contains data pertaining to visitors to Matteawan State Hospital, patients who went to the visitor's room to receive visitors, and visitors to a specific ward.

Two of the volumes appear to be a log of visitors who were at Matteawan on official business. These logs date between 1973 and 1977 and contain the date of visit, visitor's name and signature, address, purpose, and time in and out. Two volumes are records of visits made to specific wards (ward 2, 1968-1973 and ward 8, 1970-1971). These usually contain the name of a member of the professional staff visiting a patient and the reason and time of visit. The final volumes (1959-1970) are a record of patients who went to the visitor's room to receive a visitor. They contain the date, patient's name and number, and the officer's name who attended the patient to the room.
