The reports in this series assess the action taken within the State Education Department in response to the recommendations of the Regents' Inquiry into the Character and Cost of Public Education, conducted from 1935 to 1938. Each report presents both the recommendations of and the actions taken in response to one aspect of the Regents' Inquiry. Scope and Content Note

This series consists of copies of ten reports prepared by the Division of Research at the request of Commissioner of Education Francis T. Spaulding. The reports assess the action taken within the State Education Department in response to the recommendations of the Regents' Inquiry into the Character and Cost of Public Education, conducted from 1935 to 1938. Each report presents both the recommendations of and the actions taken relating to one aspect of the Regents' Inquiry.
