2 volumes
Arrangement
Alphabetic by county, then chronological by date admitted.
Scope and Content Note
These volumes list male inmates committed from each county except for New York, Kings, and Richmond counties, from which no commitments were made.
The registers provide: date admitted; name; and occasionally a notation ("recom") if recommitted (Volume 1 only). Volume 2 also contains a typescript county list of inmates paroled from the New York State Training School at Warwick whose supervision was transferred to the State Agriccultural and Industrial School in 1939 but who were not entered in the registers because they were never actually in the institution. The total number of inmates admitted from each county was published in the institution's annual reports.
Custodial History
The Department of Social Welfare placed these records on loan to the Syracuse University Library from 1960 to 1977.
Access Restrictions
Restricted in accordance with Executive Law, Section 501-c(1)(b), relating to confidentiality of individuals in custody of the Division for Youth (now Office of Children and Family Services).
