Scope and Content Note
These are printed gubernatorial proclamations designating a specified Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day. A few bear the actual signature of the governor and the secretary to the governor at the bottom, but most contain only printed names. All but the earliest proclamation (1874) were date stamped by the Massachusetts State Library between 1890 and 1925, indicating that the governor's office might have sent these proclamations to the government of Massachusetts as a courtesy.
