Scope and Content Note

This volume provides a detailed reporting on activities for units of the New York State Militia dealing with the imposition and collection of fines. Types of activities include: that a certain officer was president of the court martial for a given year; that a certain person served as judge advocate for the unit, often with his residence provided; that certain mailings were made; and that fines were imposed by a court martial, with amount of fines given. The left-hand side of the entry lists the corresponding date of each action. Also included at the front of the volume are blank circulars and forms for the imposition and collection of militia fines. The record was generated pursuant to Chapter 222 of the Laws of 1818 and Chapter 219 of the Laws of 1819.
