Scope and Content Note

This series contains typed or manuscript texts of articles, speeches, and essays by John M. Clarke. Most appear to be prepared for popular rather than scientific audiences.

Included are: newspaper articles and an essay on evolution; an unpublished essay, "The Content of Paleontology"; and essays on the history and geology of the Gaspe area of Quebec. Clarke held the positions of State Museum Director, State Geologist, and State Paleontologist concurrently during the period 1904-1925.
