Scope and Content Note
This volume contains two forms for each county: a "Monthly Progress" report and a "Record of All Petitions in this County."
"Monthly Progress" reports contain highway construction statistics cumulated monthly over several years for each county and provide: year and month; number of original petitions received and mileage of construction petitioned for; number of miles surveyed; number of miles mapped; number of miles adopted by the county; number of miles under contract not completed; number of miles completed and accepted; advertising costs; engineering expenses for surveys and maps, construction, and maintenance; amount paid by state and county for construction work; and amount expended by county.
The "Record of All Petitions" for each county contains the following information on individual petitions for highway construction work: date of original petition; petition number; name of road; town; number of miles covered in original petition; number of miles surveyed; date county approved plans for work; amount set aside by county for its share of the cost of the work; date of contact; road number; contract price; date on which completed road was turned over to the county; and remarks: usually a cost figure, possibly the total cost of the work, and occasionally a note indicating that a petition had been combined with another.
