This series consists of a letter book kept by the assistant engineer for the Western Division engineer's office of the New York State Engineer and Surveyor. The correspondence in this volume mainly deals with the construction and repair of the Barge Canal. Much of the correspondence is hand-written and on copy paper, making it difficult to read.
