Administrative History

These scholarships were established in 1930 for soldiers, sailors, marines and nurses with military service, or the children of the same who died while in the service. The scholarships were made based on results of a competitive examination. They could be used at any college, university, normal, technical or trade school in New York State. The scholarships were discontinued in 1933.

Scope and Content Note

Men and women with military service and the children of veterans who died while in the service could take an exam for this scholarship.

The following information is provided about each candidate: name; address; age; examination scores in individual subjects and total score; order of merit; county and assembly district appointed for; dates of appointment and acceptance or declination; and name, county, and assembly district of person appointed to vacancy.
