Administrative History
State scholarships for the professional study of medicine and dentistry were established in 1949 and continue to be given at present. Scholarships are awarded based on results of a competitive examination. They can be used at any approved school of medicine or dentistry in New York State.
Scope and Content Note
Competitive examinations were held for these scholarships.
The following information is provided about each candidate: name; address; scholarship number; rank; examination score (beginning in 1951); acceptance or declination; college attended; and graduation date (occasional). There is also an undated table of stipend amounts correlated with income levels. There are also two lists of applicants who withdrew from previous examinations to enter the examinations of 1951 and 1952, respectively.
