Administrative History
State scholarships were established in 1936 for the children of deceased or disabled veterans of the armed services. They are awarded on the basis of results from a competitive examination. The scholarships may be used at any approved college, university, or normal school in New York State.

Competitive examinations were held for these scholarships.
The following information is provided about each candidate: name; address; high school; examination score; rank; college; acceptance or declination; and information relating to graduation, eligibility, and withdrawal. Separate lists identify ineligible applicants for 1936-1945, giving reason for ineligibility.
