Administrative History
State War Service scholarships were established in 1944 for armed services veterans of World War I and II. Awards were made based on a competitive examination. Recipients could use their scholarships at any college, university, business, professional, vocational, technical, or trade school in New York State. The scholarships were discontinued in 1960.

Scholarship awards were based on a competitive examination.
Typed or computer-generated lists with annotations provide information on: name; address; county; examination score; rank within county (not provided 1957-1959); acceptance, declination, or failure to reply; revocation or resignation; scholarship number; and college. These scholarships could be used at any New York State college, university, business, professional, vocational or technical school. The scholarships were discontinued in 1960.
