Scope and Content Note

This series consists of one volume with four sections related to the enlargement of the Erie Canal. 1. Summaries of valve gates and fixtures documents the type and amount of material used in the construction and repair of valve gates and fixtures. 2. Notes in relation to land damages includes the name of property owner; description of property damage; drafts of affidavits; and description of work required to repair damage. 3. Certified accounts settled include attestation that remedial work on landholders' property was completed, as well as itemized lists of work done and total cost. An index to this section lists property owner, type of remedial work required, and page number. 4. Computations for sections 15, 27, and 20 contain computations; diagrams; and summaries of amounts of material needed for the enlargement of those canal sections.
