Scope and Content Note

This register contains abstracts of various court cases. Each abstract contains which register the case is in, the page number and the title of the case. Many of the cases also provide the names of attorneys, the place where the case was held, and remarks which usually state if the case was argued and what result occurred.

Cases in the Supreme Court General Term and the Court of Appeals have the lengthiest abstracts in the register. General Term abstracts include the department in which the case was held. Court of Appeals abstracts include the date a return was filed.

There are large gaps between cases. Certain cases are included in the register's index, but have no record in the register. These include Circuit cases, Insolvent Corporations Involuntary, Insolvent Corporations Sequestration, and Insolvent Corporations Voluntary cases.
