Scope and Content Note

These volumes contain a summary record of transfer taxes paid to the State Comptroller. There are one or more volumes for each year. Each entry gives the date of receipt; receipt number; name of decedent; by whom the tax was paid (usually an attorney); payer's address; amount of gifts, legacies, etc. (always blank after ca. 1901); amount finally paid; and remarks. There are no indexes to names of decedents.
